In a battle with the Cardassians, Locke disobeyed orders and stayed behind to rescue and evacuate 23 civilians trapped aboard the USS Indianapolis before it was destroyed. Name: Stephen Knight

Rank: Lieutenant

Name: Kelly Natukov

Rank: Civilian

Position: Federation News Reporter

Kelly Natukov is a 24th century reporter for the Federation News Service and great-niece of deceased Montana Science Officer, Numi Natukov. When she arrived onboard the Montana after Numi’s death she quickly befriends Captain Edwards and begins further her journalistic career from onboard the Montana.

Name: Numi Natukov (Status: Deceased)

Rank: Lieutenant

Position:
Science Officer

Born in Tycho City on Earth’s Moon, Numi Natukov didn’t visit the Earth until she was five years old. Her parents were both Lunar Research Scientists and worked a great deal on the Moon. Though a scientist by osmosis, Numi was an expert cellist and turned down a place in the Tycho City Orchestra for a chance to apply to Starfleet Academy. This was a decision that her parents did not support but her quest for knowledge and the thrill of discovery won them over.

It was just after graduating Starfleet Academy while stationed on the moon that she met her future commanding officer, Paul Edwards. Their relationship quickly blossomed and they became good friends. After seeing her genuine passion for the sciences Edwards assigned her to the Montana as Science Officer when he took command. Numi’s best friend onboard the Montana was helm officer Susan Palmer. Close in age and in spirit the two often spent time together in the mess hall.

In 2284, the USS Montana was thrown forward in time seventy two years after the destroying a Romulan warship in the Epsilon System. Upon arriving in the 24th century Numi was instrumental in saving the Montana and her crew when Kailagg accused the ship of destroying a Klingon medical transport in its native 22nd century.

In early 2355 Numi Natukov was serving onboard the Montana when the ship was called on to transfer the insane Vulcan Sytock from Galvos Prime to Vulcan. During this mission Sytock took interest in Natukov and she in him. Sytock later mind-melded with her and passed on the information that he had gathered during his investigation about the Sword of Romulus but she resisted and escaped him. A short time later Natukov was killed when Sytock decompressed an airlock while she was inside.
