Roebuck - Special Guest Star - Admiral Miles Rowan - Episode Six
He appeared in his first movie role in 1981. From 1992 to 1995, he played Andy Griffith's assistant, final private investigator and right-hand man, Cliff Lewis, on the television drama Matlock, replacing Clarence Gilyard, during the 1993-94 season, and he also had a recurring role as the corrupt officer, Insp. Rick Bettina in Nash Bridges. He has appeared in numerous other guest roles in television programs and has appeared in many feature films including River's Edge, Dudes, and Final Destination. He also played the role of US Marshal Bob Biggs in the films, The Fugitive and U.S. Marshals. He appeared as Mr. Banks in the movie Agent Cody Banks and its sequel.
One of Roebuck's more memorable roles was as Jay Leno in the HBO made-for-tv movie The Late Shift. Leno has often commented positively on Roebuck's performance whenever a guest brings up the movie on the show. In 2003, he acted in the production Red Riding Hood. This Randal Kleiser directed HD motion picture was shot primarily with live-on-demand 3D virtual set technology.
In the fall of 2003 Mr. Roebuck returned to series television as Pete Peterson in A MINUTE WITH STAN HOOPER, Fox TV’s new comedy starring Norm MacDonald. In the series Roebuck portrayed a gay owner of the local diner where much of the action took place.
In 2005, he appeared in the television drama Lost as Dr. Arzt. He has been a writer and producer for the Monsterama series, and appeared in some episodes of the series. Roebuck recently starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Quints as well as the Nickelodeon Original Movie, Shredderman Rules. He also has an appearance in Disney Channel's, Sonny With A Chance as Mr.Condor. He guest starred in Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place.
Roebuck settled back into series television when he joined the cast of LOST in the last three episodes of the acclaimed series’ first season. Daniel played the misunderstood Dr. Leslie Arzt and made TV history when he exploded on camera in the season finale!
Roebuck has been a familiar face on television over the last 20 years, he was a regular for three seasons on the evergreen hit drama, MATLOCK, portraying attorney 'Cliff Lewis," the junior partner of the law firm headed by Andy Griffith's beloved character, 'Ben Matlock.' Interestingly, his landing the role was the fulfillment of a promise made several years earlier with his first appearance on "Matlock" in its inaugural season. At that time, Roebuck was told that Griffith had been so impressed with his work that he would be back as a regular on the show. It took five seasons, two more guest shots as different characters, and a change of networks, but Griffith kept his promise and Roebuck indeed became a series regular.
Audiences will also remember Daniel for his many unforgettable guest star roles on television over the years. Grateful that he’s never been typecast Roebuck has played cops to crooks and everything in between.
Some of his memorable characters include a super villain attempting world domination on LOIS AND CLARK, THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN, a Romulan on STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION with Leonard Nimoy's Character 'Ambassador Spock' in the episode 'Unification - part II', an Army lieutenant on THE WEST WING, a Catholic Priest on ANY DAY NOW, a sex addict on SIX FEET UNDER, a distraught husband on ER and a fleeing mob accountant on MONK. Other recent credits include NAVY NCIS, GHOST WHISPERER, CSI, BOSTON LEGAL, LAW AND ORDER and DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and CLOSE TO HOME.
However it was a turn as the gun wielding crazy, Dave Burgess, on NYPD BLUE that earned Roebuck some of the best reviews of his career. In an episode touted by ABC publicity as “One of the best NYPD Blues ever! ”, Roebuck took Emmy winner Dennis Franz hostage in a nail biter that kept the audience on the edge of their seats.
Most recently he has guest starred on an episode of Dark Blue and Bones. He also provides the voice of Morris Green in Rob Zombie's animated film The Haunted World of El Superbeasto and recently starred in another of Rob Zombie's films - Halloween II.
